A British tourist has died after getting into difficulty in the water off a Crete beach.
The tragedy struck on the Kato Gouves beach on the northern shore of the popular Greek island in the Hersonissos municipality.
The 60-year-old was spotted in the water when something went wrong during the incident on Thursday afternoon.
He was pulled from the water unconscious,according to Creta Live News.
He was rushed to the Heraklion General Hospital,where he was pronounced dead.
An initial investigation into the death is being carried out by the Heraklion Port Authority,the outlet reports.
